The Police Department is currently approved for 41 sworn officer positions, 6 reserve sworn police officer positions, and 23 civilian positions. Staff are assigned to 1 of 3 divisions:
  • Field Operations
  • Special Operations
  • Support Services
The department also boasts an award-winning Police Explorer Program for the youth of Morgan Hill. In addition to paid positions, various opportunities exist for community volunteers to support our public safety efforts.

Strategic Plan

For the first time the Morgan Hill Police Department has developed a Public Safety Outcome Based Strategic Plan (Strategic Plan). The Strategic Plan will serve as a road map for the Police Department for our public safety strategies for the next 4 years. Our Strategic Plan is aligned with our mission and vision, and includes 4 outcomes that are supported by specific measures and action items to assess our level of achievement for each.

The 4 outcomes are:
  1. Reduce Incidents of Crime and Traffic Collisions
  2. Increase Trust and Confidence in the Police Department
  3. Increase Feeling of Safety
  4. Increase Proficiency of Staff
