The Scoop: Week of May 22nd


Maintenance Activities:

*Street Markings in residential neighborhoods.
*Weed abatement mowing in parks and trails.
*Weed abatement cutting along Little Llagas Creek.
*Sinkhole repair on Edes Court.

Major Projects:

*Downtown Parks Project: The Downtown Parks Project began on April 17, 2017. There are three parks being constructed. Depot Park is located on Depot Street between 3rd and 4th Streets. Creek Park is located at West Third Street and Del Monte Avenue, and the Hilltop Park is located at the Nob Hill Tank from West Third Street to Dunne Avenue. Please note: The Depot Street Parking Lot and the Creek Park Parking Lot will be closed during construction. For the Week of May 22nd, the following work is planned: Depot Park – Continue with undergrounding utility work (sewer, water) and begin construction of planter walls. Creek Park – Begin underground utility (storm drain) work in roadway of west third and Del Monte Avenue. ** Road closed West of 75 West Third Street and Del Monte Avenue/West Third Street from 7am to 4pm. Hilltop Park – Continue the grading of path and the installation of retaining walls. Begin electrical underground work. The three parks are scheduled to be completed by November 2017. *Boys Ranch and Jackson Well Rehabilitation Project: Construction is anticipated to begin in late May . For more information please check the following link: http://www.morgan-hill.ca.gov/1439/Water-System-Upgrades

*Fourth St. & Monterey Rd. Signalization Project: The signal work has begun with the Contractor locating utilities, and will be trenching for conduit thereafter. The signal will not be fully completed and operational until early August which is when the traffic signal poles are scheduled to arrive from the manufacturer.

*Depot Station: Grading and on-site work on-going for a new 30-unit residential development with 6,000 s.f. retail space located at 95 E. 3rd Street (northwest corner of Depot & 3rd Streets).

*Main Ave. Well Building Project: This project would construct a building around the recently drill well and provide the City with an approximant 850 gallons per minute drinking water capacity. The design engineer is revising the plan set to address the Planning Department review comments. The project is expected to be advertised for bids within the next two weeks. *Oak Canyon Booster Station: This project is currently under construction on Oak Canyon Lane in the Jackson Oaks neighborhood. Expected completion is May 31, 2017. For updates: http://www.morgan-hill.ca.gov/1439/Water-Systems-Upgrades

*Dewitt Avenue S-Curve Realignment Project: The County of Santa Clara is the lead agency for the DeWitt Avenue S-Curve Realignment safety project between Origilia Lane and Spring Avenue. The City of Morgan Hill is a partner in the project and providing some financial support for the project. The project has been awarded to Granite Rock Company and is anticipated to start on May 22nd. Northbound DeWitt Avenue will be closed from May 22nd through mid-November. Southbound DeWitt Avenue will be open to residents and local traffic. Traffic will be detoured to Monterey Road. *Hale Avenue Extension/Hale Avenue Plan Line Projects: A DRAFT Environmental Impact Report (EIR) was prepared for this project http://www.morgan-hill.ca.gov/documentcenter/view/20132. The City received comments to the draft EIR and is now in the process of preparing the final EIR with responses to all comments. This document will be available shortly on the City’s website.

*Granada Hotel: The installation of water services and abandonment of old services has been completed.

*Ongoing Utility Work at 3rd and Monterey: Onsite construction continues.

*Granary Building: There are two water lines being installed at the Granary Building on Depot Street between First Street and Main Avenue. Construction will be ongoing Monday through Friday next week.
