Parade will begin at 1st Street and Monterey Road and will end at 5th Street and Monterey. Following the parade, there will be a tree lighting by Mayor and Santa at the Community and Cultural Center's front lawn (Monterey and N. Dunne). Santa will be at the Community and Cultural Center available for children visits following the Tree Lighting ceremony.

Join the Committee for Green Foothills for an evening to learn about What’s at Stake for Sargent Ranch/Juristac. Covering 6,500 acres of hills, wetlands, creeks and meadows, this area is home to numerous habitats and and native species. Valentin Lopez, Chair of the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band, will speak about the historical, spiritual and cultural importance of Juristac. Stuart Weiss, founder of Creekside Science, will talk on the ecology of the site (species, wildlife movement, etc.). Legislative Advocacy Director Alice Kaufman will speak about the sand and gravel quarry that’s proposed for the Juristac site, including the environmental concerns, the timeline and how you can help with advocacy.

Join Mayor Steve Tate in celebrating the progress towards the planned construction of Upper Llagas Creek Flood Control Project. The project is planned to commence in 2019. Mayor Tate has worked for his entire tenure to bring this project to fruition. The project, when completed, will:
Provide flood protection for 1,100 homes, 500 businesses, and over 1,300 acres of agricultural land within the cities of Gilroy, Morgan Hill, and the unincorporated area of San Martin.
Save residents and businesses thousands of dollars on flood insurance each year, upon completion of project construction, and Federal Emergency Management Agency certification.
Preserve and enhance the creek habitat for plant, fish, and wildlife.
The brief event will occur at Watsonville Road at West Little Llagas Creek at 11:30am on Wednesday, December 12.
