Larry Carr was elected to the Morgan Hill City Council in November of 2000 and re-elected in 2004. Larry is a Morgan Hill native, whose family moved here in 1972. He attended Morgan Hill public schools from kindergarten at P.A. Walsh to graduation from Live Oak High School in 1987.
After graduating from San Jose State University with a degree in public relations, Larry spent several years working for then-Congressman Norm Mineta and later for Congresswoman Anna Eshoo. Larry has also served as the Director of Education and Workforce Preparedness for the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, where he worked with business and education leaders to develop innovative solutions for the challenges facing public education. Following his employment at SVLG, Larry was recruited by Stanford Hospital and Clinics to help develop the hospital's first government and community relations department.
In 2007, Larry was appointed Associate Vice President of Public Affairs at San Jose State University. In this role, Larry oversees all of SJSU's public affairs including government, media and community relations as well as all internal and external communications and marketing.
Larry served four years (1996-2000) on the Morgan Hill Unified School District Board of Trustees. While President of the Board for two years, he oversaw implementation of class-size reductions, strategies to relieve the district of severe over-crowding that resulted in the construction of a new elementary school, and renovations of Live Oak and the construction of Morgan Hill Unified's second comprehensive high school - Sobrato High School
Larry has two children, Patrick & Katie.
