Biography for City Manager
J. Edward Tewes
Ed Tewes was appointed City Manager of the City of Morgan
Hill in January 2000, bringing over 30 years of municipal
management experience in four other California communities. Ed earned
a BA degree in political science from Claremont Men's College
in 1972 and an MPA from the University of Southern California
in 1974. Ed is a member
of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA)
and a member of the Board of Directors of the California Redevelopment
Association.
The City Manager is appointed by the City Council to serve
as the administrative head of the City government. The City
Manager is responsible for preparing the annual budget, for
managing the personnel system, and for implementing Council
policy. The City Manager's office staff includes an
Assistant
to the City Manager, and the Secretary to the City Manager. In addition, the City Manager
serves as Executive Director of the Redevelopment Agency (RDA),
Personnel Officer, Purchasing Agent, and Director of Emergency
Services.
