On March 23, 2005, the Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) accepted the final revision of Morgan Hill's Storm Water Management Plan (SWMP) and issued the NPDES Small MS4s General Permit, Order Number 2003-0005-DWQ, Waste Discharge Identification Number (WDID#) 3-43MS03020. The City's SWMP plan outlines a comprehensive 5 year plan to establish Best Management Practices (BMPs) through 6 Minimum Control Measures (MCMs) to help reduce the discharge of pollutants into waterways and to protect local water quality caused by storm water and urban run-off within the corporate limits of Morgan Hill.
The SWMP's 6 MCMs are as follows:
- Public Education and Outreach on Storm Water Impacts
- Public Involvement and Participation
- Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination
- Construction Site Runoff Control in New Development and Re-development.
- Post Construction Site Runoff Control in New Development and Re-development
- Pollution Prevention/Good Housekeeping for Municipal Operations
The 6 MCMs are detailed in the City's SWMP, which can be viewed and downloaded at the following internet address http://www.waterboards.ca.gov/stormwtr/docs/morganhill_swmp.pdf.
