Animal Services

The City of Morgan Hill Animal Services operates out of the Field Operations Division of the police department. The unit consists of civilian employees that receive specialty training in a variety of domestic and non-domestic animal management techniques.
Animal Services bears the state-mandated responsibility for ensuring that all dogs in the City of Morgan Hill are licensed and have current rabies vaccinations. Cat licensing is also available but not mandatory. Pets may be licensed for either 1 year or 3 years. In addition to enforcement duties, Animal Services is responsible for:
  • Providing emergency medical care for stray animals that are seriously ill or injured
  • Providing a listing of lost and found pets
  • Responding to reports of animal neglect and abuse
  • Tracking potentially dangerous animals that are at large within city limits
