ZA2020-0003 Zoning Amendments regarding E-Commerce Distribution Uses and Design Review for Large Projects

On September 22nd, at the request of the City Council, City staff will present a City-initiated text amendment to the Zoning Code to refine industrial land use classifications. The draft ordinance (linked below) proposes to prohibit large fulfillment centers and parcel sorting centers and identifies areas where parcel hubs (also known as last mile deliver centers) could be permitted or conditionally permitted. Additionally, City Staff is recommending changes to the Design Permit Process in the Municipal Code to require Planning Commission review of large projects.

The Planning Commission and community will be able to provide feedback on the proposed text amendments at the September 22nd Planning Commission meeting.

The draft ordinance is scheduled to go before the City Council on October 21, 2020 at which time the community will have another opportunity to provide comments and feedback along with the City Council.
