2021 Use of Force

We feel it is our duty to protect all human life and we firmly believe in dignity without prejudice to anyone. We strive to exhaust all options before having to resort to the use of force. We are major proponents of crisis intervention techniques, as noted in this section.

In 2021, we responded to 35,006 calls for service. These calls were either received in our public safety dispatch center or officer-initiated calls. Only 19 incidents resulted in use of force by responding officers. No use of force resulted in major injuries or fatalities. The chart below reflects each instance of use of force by type of force.
