Recycling Service for Businesses
Recology South Valley provides recycling service to businesses in the City of Morgan Hill. Businesses can receive mixed paper, beverage container, corrugated cardboard, organics, or custom recycling services based on your business's specific needs. Recology will provide rolling carts (with sticker labels) and/or dumpsters for the materials. Lockable containers are available. Call Recology at 408-842-3358 to start your recycling service.
Other items not accepted by Recology can sometimes be recycled or reused by other companies in the Bay Area. Information can be obtained by calling the recycling hotline at 800-533-8414.
Plastic Bags & Foam Containers in Morgan Hill
Ordinance No. 2089 (PDF) bans the use of single-use, plastic carry-out bags by all stores. Customers need to bring a reusable bag, or purchase a paper or reusable bag for a minimum of $0.10 from retail stores in Morgan Hill.

Mandatory Commercial Recycling (AB 341)
Assembly Bill (AB) 341 requires all businesses that generate four or more cubic yards of garbage per week and multi-family dwellings with five or more units to recycle. Businesses include, but are not limited to, office buildings, retail, restaurants, nonprofits, and strip malls. Multi-family dwellings include apartment buildings and attached single-family dwellings such as townhouses, condominiums, and mobile home parks, in which the units do not receive separate or individual solid waste collection service.
Mandatory Commercial Organics Collection (AB 1826)
The mandatory Commercial Organic Waste Recycling Law, Assembly Bill 1826 requires all businesses that generate four (4) or more cubic yards of organic waste per week (food waste, green waste, landscape & pruning waste, non-hazardous wood waste and food-soiled paper) to compost. The goal of this legislation is avoid sending organic materials to landfill, therefore finding the best and highest use for these resources.
