This third working group meeting will review traffic engineer design for lane reduction application and related traffic congestion management.
On May 19, 2021, the City Council approved the Downtown Monterey Road Traffic Calming and Beautification design project and directed staff to design a Lane Reduction Project that improves accessibility, increases safety, and creates additional space for community members and businesses. The design recommendations that will be brought to the City Council on November 3, 2021, will include feedback from the community gained through a variety of community workshops and recommendations from the working group.
As part of the review process, the City recruited a working group of business and community members to participate in three virtual meetings and provide feedback to staff on the project design options. Review findings of block-by-block conditions. Results from survey and feedback from
businesses regarding need/desire for short-term parking, parklets, and loading zones.
- Working Group Meeting #2, Friday, October 1st, 9 to 11 a.m.
Review Parklet/Beautification Project Design Options.
- Working Group Meeting #3, Friday, October 8th, 9 to 11 a.m.
Review Traffic Engineer design for lane reduction application and related traffic

Participate in City Council review of the project proposal; attendance is optional but highly encouraged.
